On June 12, the Russian Embassy in London held a reception on the occasion of Russia Day. The event, which traditionally takes place in a warm and friendly atmosphere, was attended by over 300 people. The Embassy welcomed heads of diplomatic missions from most CIS countries, the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America. Among the guests were representatives of international organisations based in London, British political and business circles who appreciate our country, public organisations, and the media. Russian compatriots, including representatives of Russian-speaking educational and cultural institutions, also took an active part in the event.

The Times readers might wish to know the true story of Seacox Heath, which has received far too much undeserved attention lately (Fiona Hamilton, Ali Mitib, 11 May). The estate which belonged to the 2^nd Viscount Goschen was not gifted to us. It was purchased in 1946 by the Soviet Trade Delegation from Land and Mortgage Investment Co Limited for £24,000. Back then The Times reported on the deal noting its ‘use as a hostel for families’. Some quarter of a century later, the ownership was formally transferred to the USSR represented by the Soviet and later Russian Ambassador. 

The pledged delivery by the UK Government of yet another tranche of military aid to its Kiev proxies is an exercise in political expediency. 

Lofty declarations by David Cameron and Stephane Sejourne regarding the Franco-British "Entente", in fact, clearly reflect their opportunistic nature. They are an expression not of the inherent value of the bilateral partnership for London and Paris, but of their combined ingratiation aimed at U.S. legislators, whom European allies are trying to persuade to continue throwing money into the furnace of the Ukraine crisis.

I am addressing you today in connection with a horrific and savage act of terrorism, which claimed the lives of dozens of peaceful, innocent people – our compatriots, including children, teenagers, and women.

The official results of the presidential election were announced today. The election campaign, which was extremely important for our country, society and citizens, has come to a close.

Tomorrow, March 15, the polling stations will open across our vast country, and the three-day voting in the presidential election will begin.

This is the eighth time a presidential election will be held in Russia, which shows the inviolability of the principle of holding regular elections which is one of the basic principles of a democratic state.
