On 29 October 2012, First Deputy Prime Minister of Russia Igor Shuvalov and UK Secretary of State for Business, Innovation and Skills Vince Cable hosted the 9th session of the Russian-British Intergovernmental Steering Committee for Trade and Investment attended by top officials from the relevant ministries, agencies and business quarters.

The session resulted in signing a Joint Statement and a Memorandum on cooperation between the Export Insurance Agency of Russia and the UK Export Finance and on exchange in the field of risk assessment. The parties reached a number of accords, particularly regarding the Russian Housing Development Foundation.

In the course of his visit, Igor Shuvalov met with UK Chancellor of the Exchequer George Osborne to discuss issues of bilateral cooperation in the run-up to Russia's upcoming presidency in the G20 and UK's presidency in the G8 in 2013.

 Also, Igor Shuvalov had a meeting with international investors organized by VTB Capital.
