Comment by the Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs regarding the new splash of anti-Russian rhetoric from the US Administration
We should like to make the following remarks with regard to the new vilification campaign by the United States Administration against us, in connection with the Ukrainian crisis.
We reject all the unsupported public insinuations, which are retailed by the Deputy Spokesperson for the U.S. Department of State, Marie Harf, day after day. During her news briefings, in the last few days, she has “chomped” through an entire basket of anti-Russian clichés, which Washington is stubbornly attempting to impose on international public opinion.
Among other things, she made a statement from the rostrum of the Department of State that Russia allegedly wanted to transfer heavy anti-aircraft armaments to the Donetsk and Lugansk insurgents. Moreover, she stated that Russia is shooting at Ukrainian military personnel from its territory. To be noted, all of this was accompanied by references to some “evidence”, which the United States allegedly has. Well, no “evidence” was provided, and that is no surprise. There are simply no facts or details which can support these false affirmations.
Washington is reproducing the unsubstantiated considerations, which are pouring out of Kiev, day after day. They even make their own “statements” of the same kind. Their goal is evident – to cover up the true causes of the events in Ukraine, and to gloss over their Kiev wards and themselves.
However, it is indisputable that the United States supported the anti-constitutional coup in Kiev, and then in fact pushed the regime there to organise a severe reprisal against the Russian-speaking population, which is strictly requesting the observation of their legal rights. This is another confirmation that Washington must fully share responsibility for this bloodshed.
We would advise the US Administration to stop unfairly shifting the blame. It would be more fair and responsible to remain silent, if it is so hard for them to admit the truth.
We regret that the United States are going further and further in the pumping of tensions in Russian-American relations, and that the representatives of the Department of State engage more and more in anti-Russian propaganda. However, this is not the first time they do this.
